Much ado over a borrowed Arabic word....

Too much narrow minded politics, over zealous ignorances, and the pressure of wanting to be perceived as racial champions during the coming general elections made rational people making irrational decisions. A few weeks ago, the internal security department of the government of Malaysia threatened to ban the Catholic's Weekly Herald ( Christian publication) if it continue to use the word "ALLAH" to refer to God in its Malay language edition. According to them, only Muslims can use the word "Allah", the rest of other religion should use the word "Tuhan" in their publications in Malay Language.

I used to think that "Allah" is God of Muslims, and "God" is the God of Christians. Now I am enlightened to know that "Allah" is not a Malay word, but a word borrowed from Arabic language used by both Christians and Muslims to refer to the same "GOD".

To side track, I also used to think that "Rasa Sayang" is the traditional Malay song for Malaysia, and "Wayang Kulit" is the traditional cultural heritage of the Malay in Malaysia. But, Indonesia now claimed that both "wayang kulit" and "rasa sayang" belong to Indonesians. You know, everytime I eat Roti Canai, it reminds me of the Hindu from Chenai, India. I sincerely hope people from Chenai will not be misguided to claim ownership of the origin of this popular food and force us to rename Roti Canai as Roti Chenai. And whenever I eat Nasi Lemak, I am reminded of the "kiribath" ( coconut milk rice ) of Sri Lanka. And I also hope the Sri Lankan don't force us to rename Nasi Lemak as Nasi Kiribath or attempt to claim ownership of the origin of Nasi Lemak.

Malaysia is a country where 60% of her population are Muslims. However, the founding principles of the nation guaranteed freedom of religion for all her citizens. Religion has always been a sensitive issue in Malaysia, the demand by the internal security department was deemed by many Malaysians as an uncalled for extremism and a form of restriction on Malaysians' rights to practice religion of their choice.

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi had on Christmas Day, warned Malaysians to be on their guard against religious extremists trying to tear apart the multiracial fabrics of the nation. 2008 is indeed a good start for Malaysia. The government has rejected the narrow minded and extremist views of some ignorant and over zealous people. Weekly Herald now received its publishing permit for 2008 with no conditions attached. Sincerely, I do hope, in the not so distant future, freedom of speech and religion can be further guaranteed with the complete abolishment of the so called "publishing permit".

Congratulation to Weekly Herald. Allah ( or GOD in English language) with his almighty grace has answered the prayers of the Christians for their rights to spread their good words in Malay language.

Praise be with the Lord, Namo Amithaba Jesus, Amen....

Baby toy poodle..

11 days old.........

Stand by your man ?

According to China Press, Wanita MCA President Dato Dr Ng Yen Yen, advised married women to put up make-up, sprayed on the perfume, and put on sexy transparent nighties in the bedroom. She implied it get very bored for the the husband to see the wife get into and get out from the bed day in and day out. She advised married women indulge in creating some "fresh" excitements to break the monotony of their daily life.

It sounds like Wanita MCA is pitching the notion that keeping beautiful and sexy is the viable option to maintain a marriage. Maybe Wanita MCA should also venture into setting up boutiques to sell sexy lingeries, beauty saloon, and cosmetic surgery centres.

She also said Wanita MCA is opposed to the government allowing Chinese women to work as domestic helper in Malaysia. She reasoned that, it is not because Wanita MCA has no confident in Malaysian men's loyalty to their spouse, but just a precautionary move to deny men the opportunities to stray.

My dear honourable dato, opined whatever you want. I hope I am not being offensive or insensitive to state my opinion here. Maintaining a marriage is not as easy as some women's narrow minded thoughts of dousing themselves with cosmetic, perfume, and sexy nighties. A married man is not a sexually naive animal attracted by open legged creatures in transparent nighties. Sometimes, he just has a simple needs of wanting a good night sleep, and his woman to be less grumpy, less suspicious, and to have mutual trust.

Regarding the employment of Chinese women as domestic helper in Malaysia, as I said before in my previous post, if you have no faith in your husband, and if your marriage failed, please don't blame others. It is inappropriate to imply derogatory insinuations against Chinese women. I do wonder why Wanita MCA has no problem with women from Indonesia and Myanmar working as domestic helper in Malaysia. Personally, I think it is indecent and immoral to practise discriminations simply because of prejudices.

Happy New Year 2008 ?

One more day, 2007 will lapsed into history as a year that was.

A few days ago, I thought 2007 will end in a happy note. But sad to accept the reality that a popular nationalist in Pakistan has been brutally assassinated. In Iraq, people from different sects of the same religion are still throwing bombs at each other to gain publicity of their insane causes. In many countries, tyrannies and dictatorships has been arrogantly and immorally imposed to cause hardships and sufferings to peaceful and defenseless people. There are also many countries where the administration and the so called majority live in sinful and decadence culture where discrimination and racism became a way of life.

Putting aside all those mixture of happy and sad happenings in our habitat in 2007. We still have to hold on to our optimism for better outlook in 2008. The days approaching the brand new years of 2008 are good times for all of us to renew friendships and wish everyone a "Happy new Year". New year is a time for all of us to party, celebrate, and set new resolutions for the next 12 months. New year is also a time for us to have the courage to forgive, forget, and move on with our life.

Beyond this perceived happiness and optimism, I do have my fair share of occasional phobia and anxiety of welcoming another new year ! As much as I claimed to be spiritually enlightened, I am, after all, a mortal being trapped in a bio-degradable and degenerative body. There are still so many things to do and so much unaccomplished. We may had gained more wisdom and accomplished many things during the year that was. But, as we grow older, would we still have the vigors and passions to gain more knowledge and accomplishing more objectives ?

As I grow older, rather than looking forward to planting more milestones to achieve, I know, the milestones will get lesser, and I will eventually look backward to sentimentally reminiscing the good old days of my childhood and youth. In other words, I am just like a salmon now on reverse journey to find its final resting place. As the years gone by, would I still be able to hold on to my fading memories of my youth ?

I know, eventually, all things must come to an end. The funny God up there or somewhere had dictated that we are all sinners, and the wages of sins is death. Would death be a painful exit into eternity or an orgasmic escape into promised paradise ? We will never know, because those who experienced death never came back to tell their tales. Be that as it may, I do wish the next 12 months of the new year will be more memorable and joyous than the previous 12 months.

Deep down in me, I always have this uneasiness and fear of growing older as the new year approach. My grip on my reservoir of youthful energies are steadily and slowly loosening. I am, after all, not getting any younger, and I will never be forever young. Every new year, a marking is cast in my biological clock denoting that I am one year closer in my illusively unmeasurable finite journey from cradle to grave.

Whatever it may, life goes on. For that, I wish you all a Happy New Year 2008 !!!! Good NiteZzzzzz.................

Baby toy poodles...

Most Admired Men and Women of 2007

USA TODAY and Gallop Poll conducted a survey on MOST ADMIRED men and women. The survey results are :

Most Admired Men
  1. George Bush (10%)
  2. Bill Clinton (8%)
  3. Al Gore (6%)
  4. Barack Obama (5%)
  5. Billy Graham (3%)
  6. Nelson Mandela (3%)
Reading the shocking news of Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, being murdered barbarically by terrorists, I can now understand why USA is taking such a hard position in the world to protect democracy, peace, human rights, and civil order. Well, say whatever we want about President Bush. People from other parts of the world may hate him, but he got to do what he got to do. He is still the most admired and respected man of USA.

Bush is now the Most Admired Men ? Do you know Bush also keep a pet Scottish Terrier as pet dog. Dog is Haram !!! How can an Infidel be the "Most Admired Men" ? How can Gallop Poll be so insensitive to all those grievance and apology seekers' peaceful religion and merciful God ?

I kept a small pet dog, and I was approached by a "few doors away" neighbour to get rid of my dog. Because, he said the sight of my pet dog offended his religion's sensitivity. So, I know what sensitivity is all about for insensitive people.

Well, I guess to live peacefully, It is necessary to understand that we are, in order that we may know that they are not, so that, at last, we may realize that, we are not, and therefore they are.

ANyway, this is an insane world of illogical intolerance of logical. Brother Al Gore, please ask for a RECOUNT !!!!

Auld Lang Syne.....

Today is December 27, 2007. Four more days, 2007 will be over. By that time, I presumed Malaysians from all walks of life will put aside their past differences, misfortunes, and grievances, put up a brave front, to welcome 2008 with greater optimisms. Honestly, I do sincerely hope, Malaysians can put aside their race based and religious differences to respect and honour each other, to welcome 2008.

While the world is struggling to cope with economic slowdowns, Malaysians are indeed still relatively very lucky to have the luxuries to indulge in occasional unproductive parasitic racial demands and religious intolerances against each others.

Looking back, during the whole of 2007, we are constantly being bombarded with racial rhetorics by racial pariahs championing their racial rights, imposing their racial supremacy, and making parasitic racial demands. Perhaps, it is understandable that these people do what are neccessary to seek popularity and to mask their political and management incompetencies. I hope and will continue to hope, during 2008, these unwelcome noise pollutions will be a thing of the past.

Despite all my naively positive optimisms of Malaysia being a racially harmonized and religiously moderate country, I can't held but have the eerie discomforts that, all will not be well in Malaysia if we continue to immorally and indecently indulged in issues related to race and religion.

Please don't get me wrong, I am more patriotic than most average Malaysians on the streets. At the very least, I am not like all those disillusioned Malaysians who gave up hope and throw in the towels to migrate to other countries. I am not like all those corrupted pariahs who deceived Malaysians with their faked righteousness, forked tongues nationalism, and communal instigations. I am also not like those narrow minded people who attempt to imposed their unwelcome religious values on others. At least, I stay put in this land I called home, to sweat it out with my hard earned money, refused to accept handouts with pride, voicing my dissents with truthfulness, and swallowed my pride to make the best from every unwelcome circumstances. And most important of all, I don't live like a parasite and demanding that the whole world owe me a living.

Malaysians are also constantly being reminded by main stream media and race based political parties that Malaysia consists of 60% Malay and 40% non Malay. And that, it is socially, morally, and politically acceptable to perpetuate race based preferential treatments in the name of social contract. In the first place, if we are so religious and God fearing, does it make any religious sense for us to do unto others what we do not want others to do unto us ? Is it so difficult for all Malaysians to acknowledge themselves as Malaysians rather than Melayu, Chinese, Indian, and the "dan lain lain" ?

In the past, we condemned the apartheid policies of South Africa, but after 50 years of nationhood, did the Administration of Malaysia made any efforts to remove any administrative policies that breed "apartness" of Malaysians ? We condemned ill treatments of under-privileged people in other countries, but did we made any institutional efforts not to allow under-privileged people being accorded with ill treatments in Malaysia ? We criticized the lack of freedom of expressions and human rights in other countries, but are we free from this morally unacceptable menaces ?

Of course, we can always depend on misinformation and lapsed into self denials to challenge and apply Draconian rules on other patriotic Malaysians with voices of dissents. Of course, we can also threaten fellow Malaysians with another reenactment of another May 13 racial riot if our racial demands are not met. The question is, are Malaysians that narrow minded and incapable to respect and appreciate the universal decency that all human being are born equal ?. Are Malaysians being infested by immoral greeds to acquire ill gotten wealth at the expense of other Malaysians ? Are Malaysians that religiously misguided and morally decadence to impose unequal treatments based on race, culture, and religion on our fellow country men and women ?

Is it right for us to continue to use religion, race, and culture as basis to deny freedom and perpetuating unequal treatments to all Malaysians ? Name me one established religion in the world that condons unfair treatments on fellow human being. Name me one civilized culture in the world that believes it is morally and religiously right to imposed unequal treatments based on race and religion. People who insist on their racial rights to deny and intrude into the rights of others, are, uncivilized, uncultured, and oxymoronic misguided souls. They are a disgrace to Malaysia and their religions.

Whatever it is, for better or for worst, as we progress into 2008 and beyond, eventually there will only be two racial groupings in Malaysia - the ethical and progressive Bangsa Malaysia, and the retardedly moronic Bangsat Malaysia. Whatever racial grouping you choose to be, it is your rights.

Wealth without peace is decadence. Peace without freedom is indecent. I would rather be poor to live peacefully with freedom to exercise human rights. Hopefully, 2008 brings cheers, happiness, and prosperity to all Malaysians.

I seek your forgiveness if my usual grumpy rantings offended some of your sensitivity. As usual, despite all my grumpy rantings, one thing I must not deny, is that, Malaysians are indeed blessed to have the sacred opportunity to sing "Auld Lang Syne" to 2007 peacefully and merrily. 2007, after all, is not such a bad year for all !

Hidup Tuanku, Hidup Malaysia. May the almighty blessed us with the grace to see humanity with fair eyes. May the almighty bestow prosperity and unity to all Malaysians.

To all the Malaysians I met during 2007, sincerely, this song is for you :

AULD LANG SYNE
( times gone by )

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Christmas Day's rantings....

Today is Christmas Day. I am not a Christian, but I do appreciate the opportunity to have this beautiful rest day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and to remember this great man who gave his life to humanity. Haleluya to the world.... blessed are the followers of this prophet of peace. May the followers of other prophets emulate the followers of Jesus Christ to glorify life and peace.

Over a cup of nice hot coffee, I did some light readings after breakfast. The followings are some observations or perhap rantings from today's WAISF ( what am I surfing for ) over the internet.

There are approximately 1.8 billion Buddhists in the world. Buddhism is now the second largest religion after Christianity, and the fastest growing religion in the world. As a Buddhist myself, I am very happy to note that, increasingly, people are beginning to accept Buddhism as the truth of life.

25% of the world's population are Chinese, 20% are Indian, 14% are African, 11% are European, 9% are South American, 5% are North American, and the balance 16% are a mixed of thousand of ethnic groups. ONE out of FOUR people in the world is Chinese ? I can now understand why the Chinese government implemented a ONE CHILD policy many years ago, otherwise, the world will end up having only Chinese and Indian on every corner of the earth. Literally making the Chinese and Indian the legitimate Prince of the Land !

The People's Republic of China has a population of 1,322,774,200, which constitutes approximately 20% of world population. The second most populous nation is India with a population of 1,131,043,000 , which constitutes 16.95% of the world population. Malaysia has a population of 27 million people, which constitute less than half a percent of world population. Hmmm... The China's population is approximately 50 times larger than Malaysia's population. I can't imagined if 1.3 billion Chinese aim their arshes toward Malaysia and farted simultaneously, would we suffer Typhoon, hurricane, and great floods ?

The tallest Building in the world is Taiwan's Taipei 101 building ( 1,667 ft). Malaysia's tallest building is Petronas Twin Towers ( 1,483 ft). Hmmm... we should have just build one tower with a height of 2,966 ft tall, rather than the existing twin towers which is neither here nor there.

The Longest bridge in the world is Lake Pontchartrain Causeway (126,024 ft) of the United States of America. Malaysia longest bridge is the Penang Bridge measured at 27,559 feet. How can the Americans be so insensitive to have bridge almost five times longer than our longest Penang Bridge.

The tallest mountain in the world is Mount Everest (29,028 feet ) in the Buddhist Kingdom. Malaysia's tallest mountain is Mount Kinabalu (13,433ft). Two of the longest river in the world are Amazon River (6,683 km) and the Yangtze River (6,380 km). The Longest River in Malaysia is Sarawak's Rajang River ( 563KM). How can other countries have their landmarks taller and longer than us ? Maybe we should altered our geography text books to quote our Mount Kinabalu as 14,000 feet high, and our Rajan River as 6,400 KM long. After all, if it made us feel good, why not ? We are after all living in the bolihland..................

"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first."

Anyway, in the spirits of Christmas, I would like to wish all Christians a Joyous, Merry, Happy, and Healthy Christmas.......

The sad plights of migrant workers...

WE’RE LIVING LIKE DOGS ? Sad, but according to the Malay Mails' report, it happened to a group of pitiful migrant workers from Bangladesh ! Not wanting to rub salts on their wounds, but I believed, even the dogs have better living conditions. For further details, please read HERE.

Somethings are just not right when the irresponsible agents charged them RM 15K to bring them to Malaysia without securing the promised jobs and left them stranded without any money. I had yet to come across an irresponsible employment agent being prosecuted in the court of Malaysia ! Even if some of the "lucky" migrant workers managed to get jobs, their employers underpaid them, pay them nothing, and withold their travel documents. According to one migrant worker, “In my contract, it was stated that we would get RM800 a month but we ended up getting only RM400. From that, RM100 was deducted — as work levy....Every time we questioned our boss, we would be beaten.”

I believe this is not the first time migrant workers in Malaysia suffered reported inhumane treatments. It had happened to often. Perhaps, the government of Malaysia should publish, black list, and revoke the special permits granted to these irresponsible employment agents. As it is, it gave the impression that, these employment agents are nothing but a bunch of licensed human traffickers.

Oh Malaysians, since when we had became so immorally decadence ? These migrant workers sacrificed all their money and belongings to travel thousands of miles to come to Malaysia in search of a decent job and better economic conditions for their loved ones back home. But they end-up being cheated and abused by the wealthy agents and unscrupulous employers looking for cheap labours ! Has Malaysia slowly gaining the reputation for being the fertile ground that breeds contempts for human rights abuses ?

I do hope the Malaysian and Bangladeshi government can initiate more concerted efforts to prosecute the irresponsible employment agents and put them to jails. Maybe it would worth the while for our Malaysian embassy in Bangladesh to take out major advertisement campaigns in Bangladeshi media to inform pontential migrant workers that there are no more jobs in Malaysia. Hopefully, with better information disseminations, potential migrant workers from Bangladesh will not be so easily cheated to part away with their hard earned money to come to Malaysia to be abused. The sad fact is, there are ten of thousands of unemployed graduates in Malaysia, what makes these Bangladeshis think that they are better qualified than these local unemployed graduates to compete for the limited job vaccancies in Malaysia ?

For a few dollars more, some Malaysians lookout to the world with narrow mindsets and perverted greeds, but like it or not, the world is now looking at Malaysia with negative perceptions. Are we a nation that has been infested by vultures who are unscrupulous, immoral, heartless, with no sense of guilt, and incapable of remorse, to cheat poor people from under priviledged countries ? We are indeed a shameless country with farked up mentalities and faked righteousness.

To all these people who are responsible for the sad plights of the Bangladeshi, please try to put yourselves in their shoes. Please have some basic decency to treat your fellow human beings with respect and compassion.

Dong Zhi

December 22nd 2007 is Dong Zhi ( 冬至, WINTER SOLSTICE FESTIVAL, Arrival Of Winter ) - The Chinese thanksgiving day. Here is to all Chinese in every corner of the world, a happy family reunion. May your Tang Yuan ( 湯圓 ) be sweet and bring you optimism, greater family unity, and prosperity.

Dong Zhi is the most important festival by the Chinese Hokkien. For the Hokkien-lang, eating of Tang Yuan ( Rice Glutinous Balls served in sweet syrup ) and offering of prayer to ancestors on this winter solstice day is mandatory. You are considered to be "one year older" after eating the Tang Yuan. For those ladies who want to be forever young, please refrained from taking Tang Yuan during Dong Zhi.

How time flies. I remembered, as a young boy, on the morning of Dong Zhi, my mother taught me how to roll various colours of glutinous rice ball and preparing the sweet pandan flavour syrup. She said, if you want to enjoy good luck and healthy during the next 12 months, all of us must eat a small bowl of a mixture of PINK and WHITE tang yuan. In the morning of Dong Zhi, my late mother prepared and presented elaborate prayers and offerings to ancestor. My late mother used to tell us, when we drink the water, we must always remember the source. No matter where we are, we must always remember our home town and our ancestors. To her, her home town is Fujian, China. But for me, my home town is Taiping, Perak. Malaysia is a place I called home, but Malaysia is also a place where I shed silent tears for all the hardships my parents received. I do hope, as times progress, things will change for the better for my children.

As I grow older. the earth seemed to spin faster and the days seemed shorter. It seemed like yesterday that I celebrated previous year Dong Zhi festival. How times flies, and my children are growing tall. My parent home towns are in China. Taiping is my home town, but for my children, Kuala Lumpur is their home town. All these relativity of origins, was it my so called Chinese diaspora ?

On this eve of Dong Zhi, where the night is longer than the day, I am thinking of my late parents and my sweet home town, Taiping - The town of everlasting peace. Perhaps, this simple poem by LiBai sums up my sentimental feelings tonight.

静夜思
床前明月光
疑是地上霜
举头望明月
低头思故乡

To all Chinese in the world, may you all have a happy and joyous Dong Zhi festival. Good NiteZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..

Rantings in the night...

Men are, at times, pitiful creatures. As a young man, there are many EXPECTations being imposed on him. He has to do well in academics, get a decent job, get a good soul mate, and defend the good name of the family, etc. After he got married and have a family, no matter how responsible and decent he is, if he work too hard and always come back home late, usually his siow-bore will begin to SUSPECT him of having extra marital affairs or sowing wild seeds in all the wrong bushes.

A man had to work so much more harder to make sure his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, and his parents are well taken care of. But his silent sufferings and sacrifices are always unnoticed and never appreciated. When things go wrong, he shouldered the blames and accountabilities. When things go well, he is burdened with more responsibilities. Hardly he is given due recognition and rewarded accordingly by his family members. At the end of the day, he counts himself lucky if he can have some peace of mind to watch his favorite sport programs on the telly.

I had heard of many indirect insinuations by well meaning people to desperate wives, hinting to them that a wife should control the husband's finances and check on his activities. These siow-langs and yeemah-kichiehs like to strike fears into the minds of desperate wives by saying "ping chat mau ng sek yi" ( 哪隻貓不吃魚.translated - a cat can never resist the temptation to eat fish ). I do wondered, how do some husbands of these yeemah-kuchiehs' cope with their wives' constant insecurities and suspicions.

I guess a man will only gained RESPECT after he is dead and six feet under where all these siow-charbores and yeemah-kuchieh come to his altar to offer 2 joss sticks and sing praises in remembrances.

I was once told by a spiritually enlightened man that, usually unmarried men's lives are longer than married man. I was also once told by the same spiritually enlightened man that a married man's life is more fulfilling an rewarding than an unmarried man's. But the funny thing is, he told me that, a married is more willing to die compared to an unmarried man. Well, what a contradiction. Men are indeed oxymoronic siow-kia !

Coming back to longevity, the world oldest man is Ukraine's Hryhoriy Nestor. He is 116 years old. He attributed his long life to the fact that he was never married. Sadly, he died in his sleep recently. May the almighty bless his soul.

Life is a many splendour things ? Whatever it is, we, the gong-cow and gong-too still have faith in our own stupidities...........

Tomorrow will be better. Good NiteZzzzzz !

Robby's Night...

I received this in my email.........

At the prodding of my friends, I am writing this story. My name is Mildred Hondorf. I am a former elementary school music teacher from Des Moines, Iowa. I've always supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons-something I've done for over 30 years. Over the years I found that children have many levels of musical ability. I've never had the pleasure of having a prodigy though I have taught some talented students.

However I've also had my share of what I call "musically challenged" pupils. One such student was Robby. Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single Mom) dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys!) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to Robby.

But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him play the piano. So I took him as a student. Well, Robby began with his piano lessons and from the beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavor. As much as Robby tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel But he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary pieces that I require all my students to learn.

Over the months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and tried to encourage him. At the end of each weekly lesson he'd always say, "My mom's going to hear me play someday." But it seemed hopeless. He just did not have any inborn ability. I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled but never stopped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming to our lessons.

I thought about calling him but assumed because of his lack of ability, that he had decided to pursue something else. I also was glad that he stopped coming. He was a bad advertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed to the student's homes a flyer on the upcoming recital. To my surprise Robby (who received a flyer) asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital was for current pupils and because he had dropped out he really did not qualify. He said that his mother had been sick and unable to take him to piano lessons but he was still practicing " Miss Hondorf I've just got to play!" he insisted.

I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the recital. Maybe it was his persistence or maybe it was something inside of me saying that it would be all right. The night for the recital came. The high school gymnasium was packed with parents, friends and relatives. I put Robby up last in the program before I was to come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he would do would come at the end of the program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my "curtain closer."

Well, the recital went off without a hitch. The students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked like he'd run an eggbeater through it. "Why didn't he dress up like the other students?" I thought. "Why didn't his mother at least make him comb his hair for this special night?"

Robby pulled out the piano bench and he began. I was surprised when he announced that he had chosen Mozart's Concerto #21 in C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo. From allegro to virtuoso. His suspended chords that Mozart demands were magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so well by people his age. After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand crescendo and everyone was on their feet in wild applause.
Overcome and in tears I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in joy. "I've never heard you play like that Robby! How'd you do it? " Through the microphone Robby explained: "Well Miss Hondorf . Remember I told you my Mom was sick? Well, actually she had cancer and passed away this morning And well . . . She was born deaf so tonight was the first time she ever heard me play. I wanted to make it special."

There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening. As the people from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed into foster care, noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy and I thought to myself how much richer my life had been for taking Robby as my pupil.

No, I've never had a prodigy but that night I became a prodigy. . . Of Robby's. He was the teacher and I was the pupil for it is he that taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself and maybe even taking a chance in someone and you don't know why.

A year that was....

2007 is coming to an end. Do you know, according to the greatest civilization on earth, 2007 is year of the PIG ? Wow, looking back, it has been a PIGSTATIC year for all !!!
Well, as a PIG, naturally, I sleep on my job most of the time........
But don't get me wrong, I am saying this to all of you again, I have BIG EARS to listen to people problems......
As a pig, I would expect all of you to be sensitive and tolerant to my intolerances....
I assured you, all pigs are also very cultured and loving....
To all those who hated pigs, I would like to thank you all for making consumption of pork a religious prohibition. Everyday, the lives of many pigs are saved in the name of God....
Please, please, please.... mind your own businesses. Hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil against us, the pigs.Eventually, let us hope all pigs can go to heaven to be at the side of Gods.....Om money fuckme home......

Deacyed tooth and politicians

The Dalai Baru said "If you have a decayed tooth, it is wiser to endure momentarily pain to extract it out, rather than suffering long term pain to maintain it with pain killers....." Likewise, if the political culture is corrupt, immoral, and decadence, it is better to suffer short term discomforts by removing the crooked politicians rather than prolonging the sufferings to your future generations.

ISA knocks again....

I am very sad to read that 5 ethnic Indian activists were arrested and send to my hometown ( Kamunting ) for holiday without trials. The 5 activists are are key members of the Hindu Rights Action Force ( Hindraf ). They managed to organized a peaceful street rally that drew more than 20000 people and attracted worldwide attentions to their plights.

Hindraf has alleged racial discrimination in business, job, and education by the government of Malaysia and demanded equality and fair treatment for Indians. The government denied discriminations against ethnic Indians.

The government has said that "majority" of Malaysians approved the use of Internal Security Act ( ISA) against the 5 activists to preserve national peace and security. Am I supposed to feel proud that Malaysia is one of the last few countries in the world that still practice Draconian Law. I do find it very sad to swallow the fact that, "national peace and security" are being used again as the excuse to invoke detention without trial on the 5 activists. I sincerely doubt the 5 activists are capable of intend to threaten our national peace and security. I believed, all they want is, fair ears to hear their alleged claims of racial discriminations.

If we can show so much sympathies to terrorists by asking the world to understand the root causes of terrorism, why are we then, not able to accord the same level of sympathies to these group of people who believed that they had been marginalized and racially discriminated ? Wouldn't it be more appropriate for the government to challenge their allegations in the court ?

In any civil society, we must be able to accept and tolerate differing opinions and expressions. It is not the culture of civil society to arrest and put activists in jails without trials. It breaks my heart to see draconian law being applies on fellow Malaysians simply because some of us believed these 5 activists are a threat to national security.

On my bended knees, I pray. May God bless all of us to have fair eyes for humanity, empathetic ears to listen to grouses, and the wisdom to do the right things.

I just recovered from bird flu.....

Forgive me if I talk cock, because I still have some residual bird flu virus in my bloods.......

"Saya pantang di cabar..." ( It is taboo to challenge me.....). Wow, what a macho talk. But Malaysians are a forgiving lot. Sai loh koh ng sek yeh, yow hei kong lah.... Every day kong ng sum ng sei. Maybe he just recovered from bird flu and still talking cock language.

"If I have to sign a detention order for ISA (Internal Security Act - detention without trial ), I will do it without feeling guilty......". So the pen he hold is mightier than human morality. Indeed, we are the last few righteous countries in the world that religiously believe that jailing people without proper trial in legally constituted court is morally right.

"If the choice is between public safety and public freedoms, I do not hesitate to say here that public safety will always win...". I don't really know, what is the meaning of safety without freedom ? Well, what can I say, there are always perverts who loved to screwed and be screwed. This is scary. In the name of safety, some idiots seemed to think that it is their God damned rights to deny the freedom of others.

And, the best part is, we seemed to be very proud to tell the whole world that, the "Rights to Peaceful Assemblies" as enshrined in Article 20 of the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and others internationally agreed human rights standards are deemed to be "ini bukan budaya kita" ( this is not our culture ). I bet some of us are damn proud with their uncultured forked tongues hypocrisies. What is our budaya anyway ? Cakap tak serupa bikin ?

Big man tough talks ? or was it desperate words from wannabe tyrants wanting to be seen tough ? Is this the morally accepted reality ? Or was it decadent reality illusorily conceived by the some immoral morons ? Well, human rights means different thing to different primates. Some primates seemed to think that they are a class above moron, and demanded their rights to deprive the rights of others. Whatever it is, I had made up my mind in the coming general elections, it is my duty to vote out politically arrogant and morally decadent politicians.

During his days of decadent glory, Fujimori was once a big man with his ill conceived tough talks, but yesterday, he was sentenced to 6 years jail by Peruvian Court. Sadam Hussein thought he is invincible and rule Iraq with arrogant wimps and fancies, but he was executed by his own countrymen at a time when the world was celebrating in Holidays. Remember, good begets good, bad begets bad, and vipakka is the natural outcome for karma to manifest its consequences.

So for all the politicall decadent politicians out there, remember Fujimori, remember Sadam Hussein.

The meaning of Life ?

This old man,
a spiritual master to many,
a defender of his religion and God.
He is learned in every aspect of life.
He blessed others,
and seek to be blessed by almighty.

With all his perceived enlightenment,
He lived a lonely and monotonous life.
With all his wisdom and religiosity,
he asked, "what is the meaning of life ?"

For his whole life,
he searched for the meaning of life.
Awaiting for blessing from eternity.
In doing so, he wasted his whole life.
he lived a life of illusion.
He lived life no longer.

Life can be ungrateful and unkind.
Wipe your tears and rid your sorrows,
move on to seek new experiences ahead.
Life goes on...

Life can be blissful and sweet.
Closed your eyes and enjoy every moment,
move on to seek life's next reward.
Life goes on...

Seize the moment to live life.
Let life dictate you the direction,
take the moment to feel the beats,
smell the flower, touch the life of others,
and be embraced in the circle of sugar and spice.

Come what may,
life is for living.
let it come, let it go.
See life in different perspectives,
learn to live life differently,
and live a life with your heart
open to endless possibilities.

With or without you,
Life is full of surprises with many good things.
Life lived, life gone, and life goes on.......
Still want to know what is the meaning of life ?

International Human Rights Day 2007

Today, December 10th 2007, is the International Human Rights Day, it is also the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. In its official website, the UN Secretary General, Bn Ki Moon, states that "It is our duty to ensure that these rights are a living reality -- that they are known, understood and enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. It is often those who most need their human rights protected, who also need to be informed that the Declaration exists -- and that it exists for them. "

What is Human Rights ?

The draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights have 30 articles. For full details of these declaration, please visit The United Nations Universal Declaration Of Human Rights. Some of the articles in the declarations are :

Article 1 : All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Article 2 : Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

Article 7 : All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

Article 18 : Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

Article 20 : Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.

Sad to note that, In Malaysia, the celebration of International Human Rights Day is marred by the arrest of a small number of lawyers who participated in a "peaceful walk in the street". In Article 20 of the United Nations' declaration, peaceful assembly is consider a fundamental foundation of human rights. But in Malaysia, peaceful assembly is deemed illegal by the authority because of the fear of causing "disturbance of peace". As a developing nation going forward to achieve developed status, we have to serve this noble international commitment honourably, we can not forever using this fear as bogeyman to suppress basic human rights.

It is also very sad to note that, after more than 50 years of statehood, Malaysians are still preoccupied with seeking, demanding, expanding, and defending individualistic racial, cultural, and religious rights at the expense of other Malaysians. When would all Malaysians be able to be educated and learned to entitle all Malaysians with equal rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status ?

At the moment, looking at recent happenings, I am honestly disillusioned. It does seemed to me that, human rights in Malaysia is an illusory contradictions.

Honestly, I do wonder, how many of our law makers are well versed with our constitution and the articles enshrined inside the Universal Declarations Of Human Rights. To appreciate international human rights standards, perhaps for a start, it is about time, Malaysia engage the the office of United Nations to conduct courses and indoctrinated better understanding of universal human rights for our members of parliament, members of state assemblies, and senators. It is never too late to learn, accept, implement, and to comply to international expectations honourably.

May all Malaysians be able to stand united in this blessed land, equal in dignity, rights, and pride. May Malaysia take an honourable place in the United Nations and be respected in the eyes of the free world.

In God we feared ?

"The fear of Allah is not there. So we have now a polluted earth, a polluted water, a wasteland...." Sheik Mohammed Omran, a Muslim cleric at Brunswick mosque in Australia, blamed the devastating drought, climate change, and pollution on Australians' lack of faith in Allah. Read Drought blamed on lack of faith

"Australia has turned away from Almighty God . . . the sinful condition of mankind has contributed to the stem of rainfall...." Danny Nalliah, pastor of Catch the Fires Ministries, blamed "sinful" Australians for the nation's record drought and climate change. Read Pastor blames drought on immoral Aussies

Oh no, not again... Another fear factor in the name of God ! Anyway, If Australia is such as sinful and immoral place as claimed by these so called religious people, why are they and their followers still residing in Australia ? Perhaps, they should go back to their biblical and holy lands dictated in their holy book to seek salvation from their respective Gods.

The law of universe is such, that, all things will find their natural balances. Certain geographical and environmental degradations such as draught, climatic change, etc. are due to mankind's lack of respect for the environment and earth's geographical conditioning, it got noting to do with men's faiths in God. If there is a God, isn't it very perverted of God to create catastrophes to cause hardships to men simply because he want to punish men for their "sins" ? If there is a God, isn't God supposed to be all compassionate, all knowing, all forgiving, and all merciful ? Honestly, If there is a God, I think he or she is not doing a good job in keeping the human race enlightened. Perhaps, God has been sleeping in his Job. If you ask me, since we institutionalized religion and instituted man made law to create and protect the existence of God, he or she should be punished for not reciprocating human's good deeds of creating him. God should be punished, not human beings.

All secular man live in ethical world and eventually go to Nirvana. What about the so called religious men ? I think most of them come from hell, live in hatreds, and fart incoherent languages to create fears in the hope that other naive and irrational men and women will tag along their path of illogical mental lunacies.

A trully religious person do not go around preaching fears and reprisals. A trully religious person keep his religious belief to himself. A trully religious person do not condem other people's beliefs. A trully religious person is a spiritual person. A spirituall person walks the middle path and is respectful of his environment.

So, next time, if some men or women start invoking the name of their God to indirectly instituting fears and promised paradise, you know you are being approached by deluded lunatics with his brand of religious intolernces. Please do mankind a great favour by asking them to go back to their rightful place with their pissful mentalities - Hell.

A tribute to a Malaysian Hero.

"...As they came out past the rocks, they were yelling and screaming, the Malaysians who made it to the rocks leaned over and grabbed the people as they went past. They got down to two people left, a male and a female in the water, and the man was within reach. Instead of grasping the hand stretched out for him, he pushed the woman towards it. She got pulled out of the water but in pushing her within reach, he pushed himself out of reach, he saved her life but it's likely that he lost his own......."

Kerk Zi On, a 25 years old Malaysian Chinese and graduate of Queensland University, was missing and feared drown after he selflessly saves the life of a woman at Honeymoon Bay on Moreton Island off south-east Queensland on Wednesday.

Read Missing student hailed as hero.

Let us all pray for the safety of Zi On and hope the rescue team can be successful in their mission to locate this selfless hero. In their times of anxieties and uncertainties, my thoughts and prayers go out to Zi On's family. Almighty, please provide your most merciful protection to this hero of humanity. To the parents of Zi On, we are humbled by such courage and heroic act, may the Almighty bless you for raising such an honourable and selfless son.

Aftermath of Hindraf's rally.....

November 25th 2007, Hindraf organized a massive rally in downtown Kuala Lumpur to parade to the world the Malaysian Indians' community angers and frustrations against the rulling party in Malaysia. How massive was the rally ? Some said they are more than 4000 protestors at the rally. Some said there are 5000 protestors. Some said there are 40000 protestors. Some said the crowd of of protestors are as large as the 100000 people of BERSIH rally. Whatever it is, Malaysians doen't seemed to know how to count. Perhaps, it reflects the lack of transparency and unbiased news coverage in Malaysia. It is indeed very sad for most of the Malaysians to rely on foreign and internet news sources for truths.

Whether we are being discriminated, perceived to be discriminated, or seeking sympathy for the possibilities of being discriminated, we need to do some deep soul searching to rid ourselves of our own demons. May the almighty blessed all Malaysians to have the dignity and righteousness to treat each others with respect, fairness, and equality. Let all Malaysians not beating around the bush pretending to be righteous and fairs, but our actions dictate otherwise and are immorally inconsistent with our words. Let all Malaysians have the decency and courage to criminalize and shame injustice, racism, inequality, and tyranny.

Racism and discrimination mean different things to different idiots and morons. Some claimed it is their rights to discriminate others, but some perceived discrimination to be an act of satanism and uncultured upbringings. But whatever it is, we have to honestly ask ourselves this simple question. That, in our eagerness to promote and protect our own interests, had we intentionally isolate and deprive other Malaysians of their rights based on race and religion ? Some claimed that Malaysia is a fair country, and some beg to differ with their own experience and expectations. What are we going to do about this different perceptions ? Throught threat of prosecutions and detentions ? Whatever it is, I sincerely hope all Malaysians can have the basic decency to respect human rights and see humanity with fair eyes.

Personally speaking, I think street demonstration is not an appropriate way for mass display of dissatisfactions. The organizer of mass rally should by all means try its best to discuss their plights or grievances with the political parties involved in closed door negotiation rooms to reach consensus. On the other hand, if street rally is really unavoidable, the authorities should learn to respect the rights of peaceful assembly, and facilitate the public rally by clearing the passages for the protestors to passthru'. Attempt to confront the protestors head on with water canon and tear gas merely illustrate the desperate highhandedness, uncivility, and uncultureness on the part of the authorities. Intolerance towards civill disobediences only happened in uncivilized nations.

The followings are comical reactions from some prom-i-nent people with regards to the Hindraf's rally :

Mystery solved ?

Who are the Three Wise Men ?

After extensive research on secret documents recently released by the British security agency, I can now conclusively confirmed that, the Magi, aka Three Wise Men, does come from the east - yup, East of Hollywood. After decades of wondering around the land of the free and failing to locate baby Bush, they resigned themselves to become the King of Comedy and assumed the name of The Three Stooges to spread their message of love via short comedy films. The Three Wise Men are Moe Howard (aka Harry Moses Horwitz), Shemp Howard (aka Samuel Horwitz), and friend Larry Fine (aka Louis Feinberg).

In 1993, the Three Wise Men reincarnated as the Three Musketeer (Athos, Porthos, and Aramis ). They borrowed the special vehicle from Michael J Fox to travelled back into Golitha Falls in Cornwall, England to fight injustices and tyrannies.

Today, I believed the Three Wise Men are so fed up with humanity that they poofed themselves into the Three Famous Monkey - Speak No Evil, Hear no Evil, and See no Evil..

No wonder humanity is so screwed up nowadays ! But all is not lost, in the search for truth, we the Buddhists also pay great significant attention to the number "3", and we came up with the Three Jewels of Buddhism. The Three Jewels of Buddhism are The Buddha, The Dhamma, and The Sangha.

For peace of mind now, I shall go to the Buddha for refuge, I shall go to the Dhamma for refuge, and I shall go to the Sangha for refuge.

Well, what else can I say, at the end of the day, it all boils down to Buddhism. Buddhism is the truth, the way, and the tao of our cosmic universe. I am beginning to doze off to my much awaited satori. Good NiteZzzzzzz........

Life's reflections

Times and again, my friends and family members have indirectly hinted to me that I am still too young to consider retirement. That, I am still to young to slow down. That, I still have the propensity and resources to make more money. But, would having more money make me happier ? Would I still be able to enjoy the fruits of my labour when my physical state dictate that I must retire ?

Funny thing is, we had been living a life of illusionary thinking that we are distinct and separate from the universe we lived in. Out thoughts and actions are always driven by our infinite wants. We are afraid of poverty. We are unsure of the future. We greed for materials and possessions not rightfully ours. We want more power to expand our support, loyalty, and respect from others. How much would be enough ?

We always have the fear that, if we do not have sufficient money, possessions, and power, we will not be able to overcome the high costs of living and survive the the hardship of life later. If we do not networked to have more friends, we will not be able to survive loneliness and solitariness at later part of our life.

We worried so much about the future that we unconsciously build a circle of dooms, fears, and uncertainties around us. Although life is a duality of past and future, but we indoctrinated ourselves to not placing priority on the present. The present is real, the present is our nibbana, and we fantasized in virtual reality. We should live life as it is, live it with confidence, and enjoy the fulfillment of life's richness. The secret law of the universe is such, come what may, life will take care of itself. It always does.

Sometimes, I look out at the clear night skies, I see the moon, the beautiful stars, and enjoy the wonderful feeling that we are a tiny part of the galaxies of universe. This universe that span across vast distances offer infinity of richness, power, and abundances. When I look into infinite world, I know, when the time come, whatever problem I may have, this universe will offer me unlimited solutions, opportunities, and resources to overcome whatever negative situations that I may encountered in life.

We no longer live life as it should be. We ingrained scarcity in our mind and unnecessarily burdened ourselves with insecurities of future's uncertainties. We put ourselves into this state of negativities because we believe we are alone, separated, and not interdependence from this vastness of the universe. We falsely believed in the survival of the fittest with the hope that our triumph over others will grant us a future of comfort and security. The poor will find all means to be rich, and the rich will devise elaborate plan to protect their wealths. We refused to cooperate with other to create prosperity, peace, and abundances for everyone. We become intolerance of others, we transgressed, ill treated, and imposed our expectations and values on others. We want to be master of our own destiny, but hoping that others will be slaves to our stupidities. And, at the end of the day, we institutionalized spirituality into religions, and offer insincere prayers to "God" to justify our selfishness and lack of morality.

Of course, I can go on to work like there is no tomorrow to accumulate more wealths. But the law of nature is such, in creating wealth, one must also be able to take times to enjoy the wealths. Otherwise, it is just a meaningless pursuit of materialism. I honestly believe, at this stage of my life, I should not be too preoccupied with creating more wealth for my self. I should not be worry to much about scarcity and uncertainty. And I must slow down, start looking for appropriate time to retire, and enjoy life to the best of my ability.

A good friend of mine once told me that, when he was young, he work so hard to accumulate more money. so much so that, he neglected his health, his family, and neglected how to live life. Now that he has the money, he no longer has the health and the family to live life as he once envisioned.

Life is not about owning more wealths, and be preoccupied with devising plans to protect the wealths to yourself. Life is about facilitating the flow of wealths to enrich everyone. What goes around comes around. In return, the greatest and most fullfiling reward of life is, the ability to enriching yourself without being slave to materialisms and detached from the desires of unnecessary want

I don't know about others. I think life's best reward is to be able to retire young, and be able to enjoy and appreciate every single details of the surrounding habitats. Wow, what a wonderful world of creation and evolution.

Carpe Diem, C'est Lavie !

Of Gandhi in Malaysia.....

This is a poster of the great man, Gandhi. The poster was used by the peaceful demonstrators in a rally organized by HINDRAF to highlight the claimed unfair treatments received by the Indian community in Malaysia

This is the picture of Hishamuddin, the Youth chief of a Malay based political party in Malaysia.

No insensitivity intended. I am not trying to compare the great man, Ghandi, with a lesser known politician.

Maybe I have a pair of cock eyes. But the facial features of Gandhi and Hishamuddin look quite similar to me. If Gandhi is still alive today and stand next to Hishamuddin, I would probably mistaken Hishamuddin as son of Ghandi. Hmmm, no malice intended. I do wonder, whether Gandhi has Malay blood or Hishamuddin has Indian blood running somewhere along the family ancestry.....

Gandhi is a peaceful man who inspire civil disobedience in India that send the Ketuanan Mat Salleh back to where they belong. Whatever it is, civil disobedience as taken root in Malaysia...........
