The longest day.....

I was having an emotionally drenching period since 9:00AM yesterday. My son was admitted to a private hospital in Subang Jaya yesterday morning after complaining about stomach discomfort for almost two weeks.

He consulted a private doctor about two weeks ago and was prescribed with antibiotic, but the problem persists. About week ago, he consulted a Gastrointestinal Specialist at the private hospital. The specialist prescribed some medications, but the medications did not ease his discomfort. A day before yesterday, he conveyed to me that the discomfort is not getting any better, and he is also encountering back pains. I got alarmed about his health condition and worried that there maybe some other bigger health issues involved. My son told me that he will have to go back to consult the specialist again the next day.

My son was accompanied by my wife to the hospital yesterday morning. Due to my recent health condition, my wife advised me to stay at home. She SMSed me later that the doctor admitted my son for further diagnostic tests and evaluations. I waited at home anxiously hoping that everything will turn out okay for my son. By 6:00PM yesterday, they are still at the hospital. I was getting a little bit more worries, so I asked my brother to drive me to the hospital to assess the situation myself.

I was informed that, my son has gone through blood test, urine test, ultrasound, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and is due to be scan by MRI at 8;00PM that evening. I stay back at the hospital to await for my son to go through the MRI which was completed by 9:30PM. But the imaging result will only be out the next day. I left the hospital with more lingering worries.......

Today, my wife visited my son in the hospital. The MRI imaging result came out at around 12:30 noon. The doctor advised that, all the tests did not indicate any serious problem. So, they still can not find out the underlying problem of my son. My son was advised to go for cystoscopy later in the afternoon to assess the condition of bladder and urethra. So within 2 days, this poor young man had to go through so many tests. First, they scoped through his anus, then the mouth, then pumping dyes into his body to take images of his internal organs, now they also want to scope through his penis ! Modern medicines, I shake my head …..

I do hope the Cystoscopy will be the last medical procedure the good doctor is going to perform on my son to identify the root problems. It is unbearable for me to see my son go through this medical procedures. I know, he is a brave young man because he is my son !

My wife keep telling me not to worry too much about my son. The problem is, how can I not worry about my son ? He is my son, and I want him to come back home as soon as possible. I can't bear to see the fears, desperations, and anxieties written all over his face, or am I over recting. Whatever it is, my son is still in the hospital, and the past 30 hours or so has been a difficult longest day for me..

The funny guy up there do have a very perverted sense of naughtiness. Hey, enough is enough ! Don't you think I had been through enough of all these nonsenses ?

Breathing your way to Good Health

As a cancer patient, I was recommended by the doctor to take up Qi Qong to complement my existing treatment regime. According to the good doctor, Qi Qong can enhance the oxygen intakes into the body to improve blood circulation to fight cancer and therefore improve my chances of recovery. I search through the net to look for a Qi Qong centre in Subang Jaya / USJ, and found the Chi Dynamics website.

Chi Dynamics is founded by Grandmaster Anthony Wee, and currently has centers in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Thailand, and Malaysia. Chi Dynamics is a non political, non religious, and a non profit organization that promotes community health. In Subang Jaya and USJ area, there are three centers for Chi Dynamics. These centres are run by dedicated volunteers. The three centers are :

1. Goodyear Court 9, USJ Subang Perdana
2. Open Field near Keranji Apartment SS19/3
3. Lick Hung (C) Primary School. Jln. SS19/6

Do you know, breathing is an art ? I learned that, a normal breathing is not sufficient to pump in enough oxygen to nourish the body. At Chi Dynamics, they taught me 5 methods of Qi Breathings - Fu, Chui, Tu, Pi, Xi. These Block Breathings coupled with the developed exercise movements also enhance the general health of the 5 body internal organs ( Lungs, Heart, Liver and Spleen, Intestines/colons, Kidneys ). Another emphasis of Chi Dynamics is the destressing and detoxification exercises such as simulation of lymphatic drainage and lymphatic stretch. In addition, at Chi Dynamics, they also teach you how to tap the energy of the earth and Sun to activate the Qi within your body to stimulate the internal organs and promote general wellness.

For further information on training schedule and accessibility, you can contact Puan Khadijah HP: 019-3278092 or Mr. Eric Thean HP: 012-2633484. Or alternatively, you can send an email to me, I will try my best to acquire and forward to you whatever information that is available.

All the instructors at the centers are volunteers. To participate in the Chi Dynamics' exercise, you need to join the association as a member first with a small prescribed annual subscription fee or life membership fee. As a cancer patient, they waived my subscription fee.

My encounters with Chi Dynamics is still at the beginner's stage, and I had been participating in the group exercise every Saturday for slightly more than 2 months now. I was taught on the techniques of “Block Breathing” and “Qi Meditation”, I thoroughly enjoy these gracious exercise, and benefited from it in the form of mental alertness, reduced pains ( probably the Block Breathing techniques triggered the released of endorphins to counter the pains), and general confident in regaining my health. My objective in participating in Chi Dynamics is, hopefully, by gaining more knowledge in diaphramatic breathing and Qi Meditation, I can gain control over my physical and emotional states to activate self healing and self empowerment mechanism within me to counter cancer cells, enhancing my endocrine system, reducing body acidity by reducing stress, and to enhanced my overall immune system.

Although I am only involved in Chi Dynamics for slightly more than 2 months, but I felt very positive about its potential health benefits. I believed, Chi Dynamics can complement my existing treatment regime to help me to fight cancer by empowering me to achieve healthy mind and healthy body to trigger spontaneous self healing. For those of you who felt generally stressed, weaked, or in need of some regular exercise to enhance the general well being of mind and body, why not give Chi Dynamics a try ?

Now, here are some latest information from Chi Dynamics :

Of broken tooth......

I was told by wifey that there is an authentic Malay restaurant that serve good Malay foods in Klang. So, off I went with my wife and a good friend of mine to the restaurant for Saturday's lunch.

Without doubt, the food was good, and reasonably priced. In my eagerness to satiate my desires for hot and spicy foods, I accidentally chewed on a grain of sand ( or perhaps, a little minute pebble) that came with the rice. I broke my tooth. I can't imagine my tooth was so brittle that a tiny little speck of sand can break it.

I guess, I can make an issue and sue the restaurant owner for not exercising due care to ensure the rice they served are not contaminated with other unwanted residues. But would that made me feel better ? I guess, as a Buddhist, whatever will be, will be. I shall save my breaths, and acknowledge it as my karma. However, I swear, I will never eat in that restaurant again !

I don't hate dentist, but believe me, throughout my adult life, a dental clinic is the last place I would go. But, Buddha said, if you have a tooth problem, stop praying to imaginary God, go see a dentist ! So, I managed to make an appointment with the dentist on Sunday morning. The dentist inspected the damage, told me that the tooth was quite badly broken at the root. His professional opinion is to have a surgical extraction. A few anesthetic jabs later, what is left of the broken tooth was removed. The dentist gave me some pain killers just in case I need it later part of the day. And, I was poorer by RM 150 !

I was put on liquid diet for the whole of Sunday in order not to have any chances of solid foods causing further damage to the sore gums.

The Hokkiens used to say “ Boh geh sai, come too boo a lau chi bai !” This eventual possibility doesn't sound attractive to me. Well, too many teeth have gone missing in my fowl mouth, it is about time I start paying attention to oral hygiene to preserve what is still available. Otherwise, it is difficult to imagine that, one day, I will end up toothless.

Moral of the story is, Don't Eat Malay Foods ?

A bracelet that improves blood flow and strength ?

I had personally being invited by well intended friends over the previous few years to tried out and buy “magical bracelet”. The bracelet is supposed to improve my strength when I wear it. To convince me, they asked me to hold my thumb and first finger into an “O” shape, then they will to show me how easy for them to break the “o” Shape. They will then asked me to put on the bracelet, and repeat the demonstration again to show me how difficult it is for them to break the “o” shape after I put on the bracelet.

Well, it does impressed me initially how this little bracelet can do wonder to improve my strength. But as a logical man, I just don't buy the idea of a little piece of bracelet can improve my overall physical wellbeing. Moreover, these bracelets don't come cheap. Sometimes, I do wonder why some people are so gullible to believe in this unscientific hocus pocus.

It is interesting to read an article in Mainichi news where a company president and six others of Sankyo Corporation were arrested by Chiba Prefecture Police on suspicion of selling expensive bracelets with the claim that the bracelet can improve blood flow.

According to the police, the suspects sold more than 2.45 billion yen of bracelets to more than 8000 people since 2004. “....They allegedly took blood samples from customers before and after they wore the bracelets and showed them the results of "tests" through a microscope. By pushing down on a glass plate that held the "after" sample, they made it appear as if there was more space between blood cells, to give the impression that the person's blood was flowing more smoothly...

What next ? A magnetized ring that allow you to have longer erections ? A carbonized shoes that makes you run faster ? A wonder bra that prevent breasts sagging ? Well, human minds have thousand and one ingenuities and new products to make you part with your hard earned money.

So, next time, when some well intended people approach you to buy a magical bracelet, a mattress charged with negative ions, a water dispenser that remove “all impurities” from the water, or some funny mythical gadget, please hold tight to your money.

The best way to have a healthy body is to eat a balance diet and adopt a healthy life style.

Man died while playing Online Games.....

“..... A man in southern China collapsed and died at a cybercafe, state media reported on Monday......” Click on the above picture for larger view or click HERE for the full report.

Be warned, online games addictions can kill you ! I still can not comprehend why there are so many people willingly allowed themselves to be addicted in the virtual world of online fantasies. Sure, most of these online gamers are intelligent people, but I doubt they have any emotional stability and social skills in real life. They may have a lot of virtual friends in the cyberworld, but when the computer is shutdown, they are back to being a lonely soul. It is okay to indulge in occasional online games as a form of entertainment. But it is not healthy to obsessively involved in trying to gain recognitions through online games. Put these so called “serious” online gamers into any real life situations, and I doubt they are capable of handling any real life issues. Get real, face the real world ! Achievements in online fantasy is merely an act of emotional escapism, it doesn't accord you real success in real life.

Boosts your immune system while enjoying your cup of coffee.

About two months ago, I was introduced to take BIOMIN, a form of Liquid Sea Minerals from Australia. To cut a long story short, I start taking it religiously on daily basis. There is no need to change my food habits or lifestyle, every time I have my cup of black coffee, I dropped 5 drops of the liquid minerals into the cup, 3 times times a day.
Surprisingly, I guess I am surprised ! After approximately two months, my hairs colour changed to darker black, really BLACK, and no more awful looking white hairs. Nowadays, I even wake-up in the morning feeling fresher and more energetic. My habitual daily backaches in the morning also disappeared. I actually felt stronger and and more youthful with better stamina and energies. I never try Viagra or Cialis, but I guess, this miracles minerals is a better and healthier alternative then the inorganic and chemical based product.

Needless to say, the liquid minerals help me to boost my immune system and energy reservoir while I enjoy my daily dosage of black coffee.

Chocolate is good for health ?

Wow, this is another sinfully delicious good news ! Researcher at University Hospital of Cologne founds that Cocoa ( Dark Chocolate ) is good for Health. Regular consumptions of foods rich in Cocoa can reduce blood pressure, reduce the risks of heart attacks, and also reduce the risk of strokes. The leading author of the research report, Dr. Dirk Taubert, said the benefits came from the compound commonly know as polyphenls or flavonoids. The are also various reports cited in Journal of the American Medical Association on the benefits of dark chocolate.

Hmm... First, Coffee and Cigarette are good for health, then eggs are also good for reducing cholesterol, and NOW, a Chocolate a Day Keeps the Doctor Away ? But Tongkat Ali was banned in Taiwan !!!

How about Johnny Walker ? I was told by a drunkard that it can improve blood circulation. Looks like everything from the WEST are good for EAST sooner than exected.......

Cigarettes, Coffee, and Eggs are good ?

Cigarettes and coffee Can protect people from Parkinson's disease ? Too good to be true ? But, this is the derived conclusion according to a research titled "Smoking, Caffeine, and Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs in Families With Parkinson Disease" by Dana B. Hancock, BS; Eden R. Martin, PhD; Jeffrey M. Stajich, PA-C; Rita Jewett, RN; Mark A. Stacy, MD; Burton L. Scott, PhD, MD; Jeffery M. Vance, PhD, MD; William K. Scott, PhD. T

You don't believe in the wholesome goodness of Coffee and Cigarettes ? The full paper was published in the Archives of Neurology. Please visit HERE to see an abstract of the study.

By the way, I also read recently that if you want to reduce your cholesterol level, you need to EAT more EGGS ! You know, the one laid by the Big Fat Hens, not the human eggs ! This was the research done by Dr Andrew Rochford, an Australian. Please visit HERE for further information.

Hmmm... I just love the good old days of "live to eat". In fact, my old man once told me that, I can eat anything and its derivatives as long as the "thing's" back is facing the sun. Lu chiak par boey ? Sai lin niah le, eh chiak toe chiak, ng tang hiam sar hiam si...... kwai kwai chiak par liow ge choi sui char boar....

So, cutting down my cigarettes smokings, reducing my coffee intakes, and avoiding eggs and bacon ? What did you said again ? Come on, give me a break ! By the way, nasi lemak and satay is bad for health. Now, please take away the horrible Nasi Lemak else where, and go get me a pack of Dunhill, a cup of Kopi-O-Kaw-Kaw, and my favorite Eggs & Bacon !
