Black Metal Banned in Malaysia !!!

It was reported today that the Malaysia's Fatwa council has decreed that Black Metal is against the Islamic principles and those practicing this form of ritualistic music and related activities shall be penalized under the Malaysian Syariah law. I am not a Muslim, but I respect the Islamic authorities for taking this appropriate step to ban Black Metal activities in Malaysia. I strongly urged other religious authorities to seriously look into Black Metal's music and activities and put up appropriate advisories to its followers.

Black Metal may just be a genre of music, but its insinuation of satanic and occult worships is simply not appropriate for our times. While it may be an acceptable form of music for American and European markets, but in Malaysia, we are just politically and mentally not matured to accept it. While I respect freedom of speech, but freedom to spread occults and satanic subcultures should not encouraged.

It is also my sincere hope that the Malaysia's Fatwa council take the lead to also look into other form of black metal's spinoff entertainments such as video games that glorified satanisms and issue appropriate advisories. As a developing country, Malaysia simply can not afford to allow its youth and culture to be sidetracked into activities that go against basic morality and religious beliefs.

Agreed. The drastic measure by the Islamic body is respectable. As a parent, the black metal's activities is inapropriate for our times. Maybe 50 years down the road it will be acceptable. For the being, other religios bodies should emulate the Islamic council to put up advisories to its followers to inform the negative implications of blindly aping black metal's insinuations. Of course, there will always be moral minority shouting around demanding freedom of speech and expression with regards to black metal. That's their rights. Let them shout and make fun of righteous people.... The appropriate thing to do in dealing with this noisy minority is to let them to have the rights to continue to make fun of themselves.....

I read a forum board in UK by a person with the name of "Dick Filth", I think.

By his written filthy language, I believe he is a solid fan of Black Metal music.

I guess it is his right to listen to black metal music and shouting filthy language. Maybe in his eargerness to protect his rights, he should also learn to respect other people rights of rejecting black metal music.

So typical of people in UK, wanting to champion human rights, yet shown no respect of other people rights !

Don't say it is not coming.....

I think that banning any type of music is Atrocious..there is no real reason that i can see anyways...i myself am a polytheist, but with occultism..it is simply a form of magic, magic is not evil or satanic, it is just ritualistic religion like praying or blessing, alot of occultism is based on the jewish kabbalah, the christian enochian, and several grimoires and related texts..it is a more esoteric and un walked path but it is not in any way pessimistic or hateful..although i do not practice it myself. i am a fan of black metal though, it is not always satanic or occult, often it is positive about polytheism..even though this is a type of religion you probably do not care for it is not attacking your religious beliefs in any way shape or form.
