How corrupt was my valley ?

Zheng Xiaoyu, 63, former director of China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), was given death penalty by the Beijing Municipal No.1 Intermediate People's Court on May 29 on charges of taking bribes and dereliction of duty. He appealed for leniency on June 12th 2007. The Higher People's Court of Beijing rejected Zheng's appeal on June 22nd 2007. He was executed on Tuesday morning ( July 10th 2007).

I do felt sorry for Zheng for his lapse of judgement in corruptly accepting bribes. Corruption is a sin, and the wages of sin is death. The punishment maybe a bit too harsh, but I guess the Chinese government wanted to deliver harsh punishment to show the world that it is serious in fighting the menaces of corruptions.

I wonder what would happen if we were to introduce death sentence to deter corruptions in Malaysia. Would our righteous members of parliament support the legislation of death sentence for corrupt government officials and politicians ? I had heard so much about politician singing the evils of corruptions and wanting to eliminate corruptions in Malaysia. Perhaps now is the right time for the Prime Minister to seek support from the Parliament to introduce death penalty for those convicted of illegally accepting bribes and corruptions.

As much as I value the sacredness of life, but these corrupt scums on the earth are causing too much social ills and sufferings to a lot of other people. People who habitually accepting bribes are morally dead anyway, so I guess it is better to clinically put them to death to end their perpetual sufferings of wanting more illegal wealths than to allow their immoral souls roaming around the corridors of power to cause more harm to the nation and its citizens. One less corrupted soul may very well make this world a better place to all.

My dear righteous politicians in Malaysia, too much has been said about the ills of corruptions, let us see your true grit and political wills, why not emulate China by introducing the Death Penalty. Don't worry about infringement of human rights and the condemnation from Amnesty International ......... Who are these people to tell us what is morally right or wrong. I definitely love to see our righteous politicians punching fists or waving their little pen knives in the air to insist death penalty for corruptions. I sincerely don't think corruption is a lesser crime compared to illegal drugs trafficking, If we can introduce death sentence for drugs trafficking, why not having the same penalty for corruptions.
