Correctly politically incorrect observations….

According to a news report by The Sun, the Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin attacked The Sun for a second time during the launching Bernama's radio station, Radio24. Read HERE.

Reading throught the short news article, honestly, as a Malaysian, I do felt very sad and embarrased that, there are still so many insignificant Malaysians out there willing to stake Malaysia’s future with narrow minded and short term personal biases.

I find it challenging to comprehend the appropriateness of the Information Minister’s unhappiness. After all, what is so wrong with the concept of Malaysian Malaysia ? If I understnd it correctly, Malaysian Malaysia creates a single unifying nationality where every citizen is accorded equal rights and fair treatments. Of late, I also heard a lot about Bangsa Malaysia, various versions of verbal social contract, ketuanan this and that, and a lot of other political insinuations. Honestly, I know nothing about the political correctness of this political jargon and its implications, I live for today with the hope that the almighty will take care of tomorrow for me. He always does. Perhaps, to enlighten politically incompetent souls like me, the Information Minister should outline his definition of Malaysian Malaysia and which part of the definition is against the nation’s and his personal interest. I do hope, one day in a not so distant future, all Malaysians can come together as one, and work together as a single nationality to bring greater prosperity and wealth to our future generations irregardless of religion and racial origin. Isn’t this the vision of our founding fathers ? Isn’t this the ultimate objective of the much talk about social contract ?

With regards to non racial news reporting, I still can not comprehend what is so wrong with being non racial. Isn’t all newspaper suppose to have that integrity of impartialness ? Isn’t that every nation’s dream of eradicating racism and shame the racists into pariahism ? Let’s us not tempted to be a racial champion but end up as a moronic pariah.

The youths are pillars of Malaysia’s future. They are now more well educated as compared to 50 years ago. I do sincerely believe that more space should be given to them to express their views and to allow them to participate in the development of the nation’s political, economic, social, and technological landscapes. Of course, some youth may have very critical views of status quo, but that does not mean they are less patriotic or anti establishment. These youths are true patriots who are willing to stick their neck out in the greater interest of Malaysia. So, what is wrong with giving more space to our youth ?

With regards to being sympathetic to opposition parties’ view, Malaysia is a democratic country, all of us must be learned to have the basic respect for differing opinions expressed in civilized manners. It is part and parcel of the growing pains and democratic process of any nation. Let us all not encourage the unhealthy germination of an environment where distribution of, and access to information and opinions are loop sided. The opposition parties do have a role to play in the positive development of Malaysia. So, let’s be fair and give them some credible venues to state their agenda, and let us trust the maturity of Malaysian in deciding the credibility of the government’s and oppositions’ agenda during general elections.

What is wrong with relying on Internet and blogs for alternative news with different perspectives ? As an educated man, I do find some news sources from internet interesting and intellectually stimulating. And I sincerely would like to believe that some of the news sources from internet are more credible than our local main stream media. We do not have the moral authority to measure these sources’ credibility with biased yardsticks, and should rightly refrained from telling others what are good and what are not good for them. Our preferences for crediility of news sources are based on our personal choices and inclinations. So, no matter how righteous we want to be perceived, we need to respect the rights of individuals, and let those individuals to decide for themselves what are credible, and what are not credible.

Be a patriot, love your country sincerely and passionately with all your hearts and souls. Help Malaysia to become technology savvy and information driven society. Seek not to control, limit, or discredit other sources of information, but facilitate the free flow of information with passions, accountability, and transparency.

Hidup Bangsa Malaysia !!!! Tuhan kurniakan, raja kita selamat bertakhta…..

Om Mani Pedme Hum.
