Harapkan pagar, pagar yang makan padi
Bruce Almighty !!! I am amazed by the following short news article published in New Straits Times on September 11 2007. Perhaps, times must be very bad to the extend that, even policeman resort to work part time as snatch thief to earn extra income. It was also reported in The Star that, the 27 years old police man, married with a 4 month old baby, resorted to crime because he desperately needed money to treat his ailing mother. For whatever reasons that he may used to justify for his criminal actions. The karma is such, 上得山多終遇虎. ( If you go up to the mountain too often, you will eventually encounter the ferocious tiger)
No law enforcer in his right mind will resort to breaking the law to make some extra quick bucks. Is the police force recruiting wrong sort of people to serve the people ? Could it be that our police personnel are not paid sufficiently, resulting in some of them resorting to other means of criminal incomes ? Whatever it is, a young police man career has been destroyed for his momentary lack of judgement. Increasingly, our confidence in the integrity of the police force to maintain laws and orders are beginning to wane.
Dear beloved political leaders, please take good care of our policemen financially. They risk their lives everyday to serve and to protect. If we can pay RM 200 – RM 300 for 4 pieces of Philip screws, I am sure we can pay our police personnel better to prevent some of them from straying into robbing the people they are supposed to protect. However, I still believed in the integrity of the police force, it is not fair to judge the credibility of the whole police force simply because a few of them misbehaved, 樹大有枯枝,族大有乞兒. (Big trees always have a few wilted branches and a large clan always have a few beggars)
上梁不正下梁歪 (When the apex of the hierarchy of power is corrupt and immoral, don't expect the downliners to be righteous) Harapkan pagar, pagar yang makan padi !

IPOH: When a group of men caught a snatch thief and handed him to the police, they were in for a shock — the thief was a policeman. The man had snatched a handbag from a housewife at a coffee shop in Taman Ipoh Selatan. Her screams prompted some members of the public to give chase. After catching him, they dragged him to the police station. On checking his identification, the policemen there realized he was one of their own. Perak police chief Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah confirmed that the suspect was a policeman but declined comment, adding that police would investigate.
