Of death and eternity....

Two bodies was found floating on the river in Chongqing China on April 7th 2007. Their hands are tied together with a metre long red wire. When local police found their bodies, they had been dead for 2 days. The couple has been identified as 26 years old Wang Feng, and his 20 years old girl friend, Liu Yan. They left a suicide note telling the reasons of their decision to commit suicide together. The young couple had planned to get married, but their marriage plan was met with objections from their parents, coupled with financial problems, they committed suicide as a way out.

Not wanting to be heartless or displaying emotional indifferences, but reading this sort of sad stories does makes me wonder the stupidities of some of our fatalistic Asian's values. Well, it seemed to me that, some may praised the couple for their courage to commit suicide in order to seek eternity of love. But, I would like to perceive this as an act romanticizing stupidities and insanities. When will we be able to rid ourselves of this pervert ism of glorifying death to justify our irrationalities ? Committing suicide to prove their love for each other to others ? How is this different from a misguided religious fanatic who carried out suicide attacks on innocent people to justify his worth to God ? I really don't know. Perhaps, we are getting severely insane on this seventh day. Is life really that worthless ? Insanity has became us !

In life, we tend to encounter difficulties and obstacles. But are there really many difficulties or obstacles that are insurmountable ? I don't think so. All we really need in facing life difficult challenges is by adapting to the environment, maybe lowering our expectations, and face rather than running away from the issues at hands. Believe me, death is not a mean of escaping problems. Death does not deliver solution to your problem. There is no heroism in death via suicide. By prematurely terminating your life by suicide, you are leaving behind a colossal trails of emotional damages, problems, and miseries to your loved one. So owned up to your problem, face it, and solve it with courage and determination. Stop being so selfish, be fair to your loved one and those who cares about you. The world doesn't owed us a living, and seeking romanticism in death is not our way of life. Please, please, glorifies life, not death !

Remember, committing suicide is a sin ! Om Mani Padme Hum. Om Namo Amithaba Buddha.
